Support Copley

Your Gift Helps Copley Meet the Needs of Our Patients and Our Community.

Your generosity to Copley Hospital makes it possible for us to fulfill our mission to work alongside patients, managing their health and providing high-quality care. When you give to Copley Hospital, you enable us to meet the anticipated and unforeseen needs of our patients and the communities we serve.

Copley is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit hospital. Our EIN is 03-0179423.

There’s a Need and Together We Can Meet It

Gifts to Copley’s Annual Fund help support the following:

  • Charitable Care Program to ensure care for all regardless of ability to pay.
  • Chaplaincy Fund to help support the work of our chaplains Ed Basset and Daniel Granstaff in serving our patients, family members and fellow co-workers in need.
  • Endowment Fund to help secure Copley’s future financial health.
  • Medical Equipment to help Copley purchase equipment needed to meet the ever-evolving standards of care.
  • Campus beautification and garden fund

You may choose to restrict your gift to support any one of the above or allow us to use your gift where it is most needed.

In recent years, community support has helped Copley:

  • build a new MR Suite and purchase MRI equipment
  • open the James and Mary Louise Carpenter Surgical Center
  • purchase a new gamma camera for our nuclear medicine program
  • expand our Emergency Department, improving patient comfort
  • maintain and replace life-saving equipment, and
  • provide quality health care to all, regardless of ability to pay

Ways to Give

We offer a number of ways in which you can support Copley, from cash donations to gifts of stock, and planned giving opportunities.

Memorial Gifts
Give a gift in memory of a loved one. Or, ask for donations to Copley Hospital in lieu of flowers for your memorial service.
Honor, Tribute or Holiday Gifts
Honor a special someone for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, a holiday gift, retirement gift or for another notable occasion by making a special gift in their honor.

We will let your honoree know of your thoughtfulness without sharing the gift amount. Naming opportunities are available if you wish to make a significant honorary gift.

Matching Gifts
Many employers match gifts their employees make to local organizations. It’s a great way to make your gift go farther for Copley. Ask your employer about matching donations (typically this is handled through your Human Resources Department).
Endowment Fund
Copley Health Systems, Inc. created the Copley Hospital Endowment Fund in 1986. Since then we have been building the endowment to strengthen Copley’s financial base and provide a safety net to ensure ongoing patient care for generations to come.

Your support of Copley’s Endowment Fund will enable Copley to meet unanticipated challenges, remain nimble and responsive to evolving needs and secure Copley’s excellent patient care for years to come.

Planned Gifts

Leave a legacy gift to Copley Hospital in the form of a deferred gift such as bequests, naming Copley as a beneficiary, or establishing a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust.

Stock/Securities Gifts

Gifts of appreciated securities can help you reduce your capital gains taxes and receive a tax deduction.

Gifts of securities — such as individual stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares — can benefit both you and Copley Hospital. A gift of securities has tax benefits that increase the value of your gift, which may allow you to make a larger gift than if you first sold the securities and then donated the net proceeds.

To donate stock/securities to Copley Health Systems, Inc. ask your broker to transfer eligible securities to: Morgan Stanley DTC #0015 for credit to Account # 383-034878. Attention: Christine Morrissey, Mountain Road, P.O. Box 1418 Stowe, VT 05672-1418. Telephone: 800.622.2342. Please also notify Copley at 802.888.8301. Please be certain to provide your name when transferring for appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.

For assistance in making a gift of securities, please contact Development at 802-888-8301.

Donor-Advised Funds
Use your donor-advised fund (DAF) to make a gift to Copley Hospital. Questions? Please contact us at 802-888-8301.

A donor-advised fund (DAF) functions as a personal charitable savings account with tax benefits as you make contributions to your DAF. Once you create a DAF, your funds are invested and grow tax-free. Interested in learning more about DAFs? Read information from the National Philanthropic Trust here.
