Copley Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Services Department, also referred to as Radiology, received notification of its accreditation in Nuclear Medicine by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR is a 3-year accreditation, which Copley has maintained since 2015.

“In the field of Nuclear Medicine,” said Director of Diagnostic Imaging Mariann Sjolander, “accreditation means that Copley meets and is held to the highest Nuclear Medicine standards in the industry – it’s a gold seal of approval!” “To earn accreditation,” she said, “the ACR reviews a wide range of images for clarity and quality, as well as inspects the machine to make sure it is operating at a high standard.”

Nuclear Medicine is a branch of diagnostic imaging that uses a very small amount of radioactive material that is injected to examine organ function and structure. For example, when Cardiologist, Adam Kunin, MD refers patients for a Nuclear Medicine Stress Test is looking for possible build-up of plaque, blood clots, valve defects or injury, heart disease and more.

In addition to reviewing quality imaging, compliance records, and preventative maintenance, the ACR reviews the skill of the Technologist. “Hannah Paradee has been with the Department for seven years, she is our Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist. We recognize her skill and dedication in ensuring we maintain this accreditation.”

In addition to Nuclear Medicine, Copley is ACR accredited in Mammography and Computed Tomography (CT Scan). “We are constantly working to achieve the highest possible patient care, and we do that by producing the highest quality images. Earning our third accreditation is gratifying and clear evidence that we are meeting that goal,” Sjolander continued.

Copley’s team of board certified Radiologists and licensed Radiologic Technologists offer diagnostic and interventional radiology services in a comfortable friendly setting. Staff includes board-certified Radiologists – physicians trained to read and interpret the results of the tests. Most of Copley’s technologists hold multiple credentials within each discipline and regularly exceed the accepted standards for annual training and continuing education.

In addition to Nuclear Medicine, Mammography and CT Scans, the department also provides Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Bone Density Testing, Ultra Sound, Low Dose CT Scan for Lung Cancer Screening, and X-rays.
