Copley Hospital is pleased to welcome Podiatrist Specialist Kevin McNamara, DPM.
Dr. McNamara joins Podiatrist Dr. Ciara Hollister and the orthopedic team at Mansfield Orthopaedics. With the addition of Dr. McNamara to our experienced foot and ankle and podiatric team we are able to further expand our foot care services to our community,” said Stephanie Lussier, VP Ambulatory and Provider Services. “We look forward to providing our patients with the best in quality podiatric care and pleased that Dr. McNamara is joining our team,” continued Stephanie. Dr. McNamara will start seeing patients in mid-February.
Dr. McNamara earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Drexel University and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his residency in Podiatric Surgery at Frankford Hospitals, also in Philadelphia.
Kevin came to Vermont following his residency. He founded podiatry departments at two hospitals and developed podiatry at a third hospital, creating three highly successful practices. His affiliation with Vermont Hospitals include Gifford Medical Center, Cottage Hospital and Central Vermont Medical Center.
“You could say I’ve been studying to be a podiatrist since I was just a kid,” Kevin says. “I had an injury when I was 15, which is about the age when you start thinking about what you want to do with your life. Over the next couple of years I did some shadowing with my podiatrist and I knew before I even finished high school that that’s what I wanted to pursue.”
Podiatrists specialize in caring for feet. They are experts in diagnosing foot and ankle related problems and providing treatment. Foot care can range from the more basic conditions such as corns, bunions, hammertoes, nail disorders, heel spurs, and neuromas to conditions due to chronic diseases and injuries as well as complications from deformities and ongoing issues such as diabetic foot. Drs. McNamara and Hollister also offer intensive care in terms of infections and wounds, foot and heel injuries and surgery as needed.
“We strive to provide the highest quality of care while giving the best advice and suggestions in terms of how to take better care of your feet including what type of lifestyle to be maintained,” said Dr. McNamara. For instance, Dr. McNamara said they might suggest a kind of shoe to wear or other support equipment such as inserts, etc.
In addition to surviving more than 30 Vermont winters, Kevin is married to a Vermonter. He and wife Erica have five children, one of whom will soon be making him a grandfather. “I’m genuinely looking forward to continuing my career at Copley and Mansfield Orthopaedics,” he said in closing. “Small, community hospitals provide such wonderful care and Copley has developed a fantastic model and reputation.”
Dr. McNamara will see patients at Mansfield Orthopaedics, Morrisville clinic at 555 Washington Highway. To schedule an appointment call Mansfield Orthopaedics at 802-888-8405, a physician referral is only necessary if your insurance requires one.
