Mother’s Day Message to our Community.
For generations, Copley Hospital’s Birthing Center has been a place of welcome, comfort, and care—a trusted space where new life begins and lifelong bonds are formed. We are deeply moved by how much this center means to our community, and we honor the many families who have chosen Copley to share in their most personal and powerful moments.
We also recognize the deep concern and emotion surrounding the future of the Birthing Center, especially on a day as meaningful as Mother’s Day. Your voices matter. We hear you, and we are listening.
Like many rural hospitals across the country, Copley is facing complex and urgent challenges—from a shrinking and aging population to significant financial pressures that impact our ability to deliver care. The Birthing Center, while cherished, is currently operating at a loss of $3 to $5 million annually. As stewards of our community’s health and future, we are obligated to confront these realities head-on, with honesty and care.
No decisions have been made. We are committed to a transparent and inclusive process—one that involves listening to our community, engaging with local and state leaders, and exploring every option to preserve access to safe, high-quality maternity care.
Sincerely and with care,
Copley Board of Trustees and Administration
