Copley Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Robin B. Cotter to its general surgery team. Beginning September 1, Dr. Cotter joined Drs. Donald Dupuis and Sarah Waterman in providing a wide range of general surgical procedures to the local community.
Dr. Cotter is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Neuroscience and Behavior. She went on to complete her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, in 2019, before joining Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She recently completed her Residency in General Surgery at Dartmouth in June 2025.
“Dr. Cotter brings a wealth of expertise and innovation to our surgical team,” said Dr. Sarah Waterman. “Her dedication to advancing rural healthcare and her proficiency in minimally invasive surgery are invaluable. Plus, her love for Vermont is a perfect fit with our community-focused approach to care.”
Dr. Cotter, a native Vermonter, shared, “I’ve always wanted to practice in my home state, and it’s an honor to provide surgical care to the people of this wonderful community. From the moment I arrived at Copley, I felt a strong sense of community and a shared commitment to providing exceptional care. It was immediately clear to me that Copley’s values align perfectly with my own.”
Dr. Cotter’s certifications include Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery, Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery, Fundamentals of Robotic Surgery, Advanced Trauma Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. She is excited to contribute her skills as Copley Hospital prepares to open its new fourth operating room in the coming months.
Throughout her career, Dr. Cotter has earned numerous honors, including first place at Dartmouth’s Surgical Trainees Advancing Research Symposium (STARS), runner-up at the New England Surgical Society Resident & Fellows Research Presentation, the Golden Scalpel Medical Student Teaching Award, and admission to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society.
When she’s not in the operating room, Dr. Cotter enjoys skiing, backpacking, running, rowing, cooking, reading, and exploring the outdoors.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Cotter to Copley Hospital. We’re thrilled to have her join our team and bring her talents to our community.
