A Surgical Center to Deliver the Best Patient Experience
Copley Hospital has been named a Top 100 Critical Access/HealthStrong Hospital for the past five years, recognized for the outstanding care it provides. Yet its medical staff performs nearly 2,000 surgeries annually in cramped, equipment-crowded operating rooms significantly smaller than present care standards require, with inadequate storage capacity for equipment and supplies. The surgical area also lacks adequate spaces for patient consultation and for waiting family members.
The new Surgical Center will be a direct replacement of existing services. The Green Mountain Care Board (GMCB) approved the hospital’s Certificate of Need (C.O.N.), stating the project will serve the public good. The GMCB also acknowledged that the quality of care at Copley is high despite the crowded conditions and supported the new facility to optimize patient flow and improve the work environment.
The $12.5 million project integrates all aspects of Copley’s surgical program into one area, making every patient’s path toward optimum healing as easy and supportive as the experience can be.
Copley Hospital will cover the bulk of the project with working capital and a loan. We have already raised 97% of the $3.2million we are seeking in community support.
Copley’s Surgical Services Team participated in the May 25, 2016 ground-breaking ceremony for the new center. Construction will be completed by the end of 2017.
