Rebecca “Becky” Gloss (she/her) joined the Midwifery team at Copley Hospital in September of 2019. Her career as a Nurse Midwife started here at Copley. Becky was raised in Massachusetts and came to Vermont to study Environmental Science at The University of Vermont. While at UVM she spent her summers working on local organic farms and gained a certificate in Artisan Cheesemaking. Her inspiration to become a Midwife came while apprenticing at a local sheep dairy and during a busy lambing season. Becky spent hours observing the laboring sheep and assisting as needed in the birth process. Within a year Becky had become a birth doula and was on the path to become a Nurse Midwife. She attended Midwifery School at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where she gained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing with advanced training in Midwifery. While in school Becky worked as a Nurse at Atlanta’s first Birth Center. She also traveled to the Dominican Republic and Guatemala to exchange knowledge with local midwives. She moved back to Vermont upon graduating from school in 2017 and worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Springfield Hospital until she joined the Midwifery Practice here at Copley.
Becky has clinical interests in botanical medicine and lactation. She has specialized training in SpinningBabies methodologies- ask her to learn more! She plans to develop expertise in adolescent gynecology. Outside of Copley Becky enjoys gardening, creating soaps and herbal body products, crafting knitted goods and hiking with her dog Sadie.
