One of the most comforting forms of support you can give a person with cancer is the use of touch. Copley Hospital and Dragonheart Vermont are pleased to offer “Touch, Caring & Cancer,” a free workshop on Saturday, November 18th. The workshop is recommended for anyone living with cancer including caregivers, family and friends. This inspiring and authoritative program provides detailed instruction from local expert Catherine Cerulli, M.Ed. in cancer support and oncology massage. Cerulli will teach safe and simple techniques anyone can learn and apply. The November 18th workshop will be held in Copley Hospital’s Stevens Conference Room located on the 2nd floor of the Health Center Building beginning at 10:00am. Participants will learn safe and simple techniques that anyone can apply including:
• safety precautions
• positioning on home furniture (bed, sofa, chair at kitchen table)
• frame of mind
• communication, and
• simple techniques for the head and face, neck, back and shoulders, hands, and feet
There is also instruction in acupressure for pain, anxiety and nausea.
Each participant will go home with new skills and a detailed instructional handout that includes all techniques covered in the workshop, as well as additional resources.
