Optometrist Practice Changes Hands Dr. Francis Pinard, OD to Open Practice in Morrisville as Dr. David Garbutt Retires

Morrisville – After 45 years of practice, optometrist Dr. David Garbutt is retiring and transferring his practice to Dr. Francis (Frank) Pinard of Newport Optical. Dr. Pinard will begin seeing patients at 530 Washington Highway in Morrisville in early May. The Morrisville office will be a full-time second location for Dr. Pinard and his associates. Ophthalmologist Dr. Mark Iverson, who shared office space with Dr. Garbutt, will continue to see patients in the Morrisville office.

We wish him and his wife Gail great joy pursuing their plans of gardening, traveling, and generally enjoying retired life.”

Dr. Pinard is a 1984 graduate of Saint Michael’s College and received his doctorate training at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He has been in practice in Newport for over 25 years. He is a member of the American Optometric Society, the Vermont Optometric Society, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Pinard is the current President of the Vermont Optometric Association and a delegate to the American Optometric Association.

He is an active member in the community. His involvement includes: Past-President Derby Lions Club, Past-President Newport Kiwanis club, Member Parish Council St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, and Board of Directors North Country Union High School DECA. Some may recognize Dr. Pinard from his past volunteer roles as soccer/basketball coach for North Country Union Junior High School, Derby Wildcats Soccer Coach and AAU Basketball.

Dr. Pinard specializes in contact lenses, primary eye care, LASIK refractive surgery-consultations and co- management, the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, and emergency services. His Morrisville practice will be open weekdays 8am-5pm with the exception of every other Wednesday. Patients may call 802-888-3089 to make an appointment or for more information. Both Newport and Morrisville offices are working to make it a seamless transition for patients of Dr. Garbutt.
