Kathie Dewald, an Operating Room Service Aide at Copley Hospital, is honored as Copley Hospital’s Team Hero. Kathie was nominated for this award by the entire surgical team. Peers describe her as an integral member of the Perioperative team and applaud her for the pride she takes in her everyday work and that of the entire surgical team. The Copley Team Hero award recognizes employees who exemplify the hospital’s values of community, respect and compassion, service excellence and life-long learning.
“Every morning Kathie arrives with her signature smile, work ethic and “can do” attitude. She jumps right in and does whatever needs to happen to ensure that the surgical team is prepared and ready to care for our patients,” said Karen Cavender, RN, Director Perioperative Services.
The team describes her intellectual curiosity as a trait that stands out to many. She continuously is looking at ways to expand her knowledge base so she can be more helpful and have a greater impact on patient care. An example of this is her participation in a LNA class, which she completed and crushed! “There is no doubt she will use her new knowledge and skills to positively affect patient care and take on even more responsibility,” Cavender said.
Kathie has been part of the Surgical Services team since August of 2017. She and her husband reside in Lowell.
The Copley family congratulates Kathie on this well-deserved recognition.
