Radiologic Technologist Melissa Luther was honored this week by members of Copley Hospital’s leadership team with the “Team Hero” award. This monthly award recognizes an employee who demonstrates outstanding service to patients and their families, and exemplifies Copley’s values of community, respect and compassion, service excellence, and life-long learning.
CEO Art Mathisen shared that Luther is seen as a valuable team player by her peers. “She’s reliable, appreciative of others, works well under all sorts of situations, demonstrates flexibility and does not hesitate to recognize others’ successes. Luther is also described as a role model as she aspires others around her to grow. She mentors employees ensuring they receive in-depth training.
Lise Hamel, Director of Diagnostic Imaging, says “She treats every patient the same, with compassionate care and respect.” Patients are comforted by her as she listens closely to their concerns and gives a thorough explanation of what to expect.
Hamel also praises Luther for taking on an initiative. Her most recent project was the development of an orthopaedic positioning reference book.
Luther grew up in Hardwick and joined Copley’s Diagnostic Imaging team in 2014. Her experience prior to Copley had always been in large trauma hospitals. Copley is the first community hospital she has worked at. When asked what makes Copley such a special place, Luther replied, “my co-workers and patients.”
