Tansy Baumann was welcomed by parents Lindsay and Jeffrey Baumann of Waterbury Center, on Wednesday, January 2nd. Newborn Baumann was Copley Hospital’s first baby of the New Year, born at 1:59pm in the Copley Hospital Birthing Center. Tansy was delivered by OB/GYN William Ellis, MD and certified nurse midwife April Vanderveer. Tansy is the Baumanns’ first child.
“From the prenatal care and birthing classes to the care we received while in the Birthing Center, our experience was truly awesome,” said new parents Lindsay and Jeff Baumann. “We could not have asked for a better team taking care of us.” They expressed their appreciation to the entire Birthing Center team and the staff and midwives at The Women’s Center.
“We were also impressed with how well the team communicated with us, from the information provided, to the birthing tips, and most importantly, for keeping us informed as labor and delivery progressed,” commented Lindsay. Jeff made a point of noting how beneficial the birthing classes were to him, preparing him for the birth. Lindsay appreciated the respect she received from the birthing team, noting they understood and worked with her to honor her birthing plan.
The Baumanns shared that Tansy is the great-granddaughter of the late Pricilla Sparks. Mrs. Sparks, who passed away in 2012, was a registered nurse and served as a private-duty nurse for Alexander Copley – the gentleman for whom the hospital is named.
