Morrisville – Members of the Better Breathers Support Group presented Copley Hospital President Melvyn Patashnick with a check for $350.00 during their October meeting. The gift was a result of a successful car wash the group held in September to benefit both Copley Hospital and the American Lung Association. The Better Breathers Support Group thanks all of the car owners and donors as well as the support of Maplefield’s and Aubuchon Hardware at the intersection of Route 15 and Brooklyn Street for providing the location for the benefit carwash.
This is the second car wash the group has held to support Copley Hospital. In 2010, their successful car wash and bake sale helped Copley purchase signage to communicate its smoke-free policy campus-wide.
Members of the Better Breather Support Group are graduates and/or attendees of Copley Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 3:00-5:00pm and is a collaboration with the American Lung Association. Copley’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program helps people who are living with emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and other forms of lung disease and breathing disorders to improve their quality of life. To enroll in the program participants must have a doctor’s referral as well as an initial evaluation. Therapists work with you to develop personal goals and a work plan.
