Morrisville – Copley Hospital recognized its many volunteers at a special volunteer appreciation breakfast held April 28th. Copley Hospital President Melvyn Patashnick and Board of Trustees Chair Nancy Putnam thanked the volunteers for their contributions of time, perspectives and caring. Patashnick described their dedication as a valuable service to Copley and to the communities we serve. Last year, 116 volunteers provided more than 13,000 volunteer hours. Volunteers representing the Hospital, Gift Shop and Second Chance Thrift Store participated in the event. Copley Foundation Committee member Clive Gray was also recognized for his service to Copley as well as that of the Copley Health System board and Foundation Committee. “It takes a village to run a hospital and we are fortunate to have so many community members willing to take on leadership roles,” said Patashnick.
Special tribute was paid to volunteers who achieved milestones for their annual hours of service. Those recognized included: Judy Ward (Wolcott) for her 396 hours at the Second Chance Thrift Store; Rosemary Arnold (Morrisville) for her 370 hours donated to the Second Chance Thrift Store; Jeannette Randolph (Morrisville) for her 369 hours at the Gift Shop and Hospital’s Information Desk; Bob Ianni (Morrisville) for his 358 hours at the Hospital’s Information Desk; Donna Merriam of (Morrisville) for her 332 hours at the Second Chance Thrift Store; Joyce LaRow (Hyde Park) for her 328 hours at both Second Chance Thrift Store and Hospital Information Desk; Betty Busch (Morrisville) for her 324 hours at the Hospital’s Operating Suite; Addie and Ken Salls (North Hyde Park) for their 293 hours each in the Gift Shop and Irene Wilkins (Morrisville) for her 283 hours at the Hospital’s Information Desk and Gift Shop. Special recognition was extended to Liz Raymond of Morrisville for her nearly 30 years of volunteer service and more than 13,000 hours. Liz is retiring from her duties at the Hospital Gift Shop, but will continue volunteering at Second Chance Thrift Store.
Volunteers provide support to Copley Hospital in a variety of ways including: greeting and assisting patients and visitors at the Information Desk, clerical support in several patient care areas, knitting hats and blankets for newborns, delivering mail, assisting in our Health Sciences Library, tending to Copley’s beautiful flower gardens, staffing the Gift Shop and Second Chance Thrift Store, and assisting with special projects and events. “Regardless of their role, volunteers are a vital part of Copley,” said Patashnick. “Their dedication to our community hospital is truly an asset.”
