Copley Hospital Collaborates with AARP to Offer a Free Presentation on Fraud Awareness

May 2, 2019

AARP Vermont and Copley Hospital are pleased to offer a three-part fraud awareness series with the first program scheduled on May 8.  “Weapons of Fraud” provides an overview of leading threats involving scams in Vermont.  The presentation will include techniques of con artists followed by discussion of the steps to take to avoid victimization.  This noon presentation will be held in Copley Hospital’s Stevens Conference Room, 2nd floor of the Health Center Building.  Registration is required by calling 888-8302 or online at https://www.copleyvt.org/event/aarp-weapons-fraud-presentation/.

William April, Vermont Fraud Watch volunteer, has presented this program to hundreds of Vermonters.  Participants learn how much fraud is out there, and behaviors that can put you at risk.  In addition, you will know and practice the most effective prevention strategies to avoid becoming a victim, and to recognize the red flags.  The Weapons of Fraud series is free of charge and open to the public.  Additional programs include Fraud, Scams and Con Artists: Coming to a Computer near You on June 5, and the final program, Identity Theft, scheduled for August 7.
