Angela Griggs, Copley Hospital’s Patient Financial Counselor, was recently honored as Copley’s “Team Hero” by the hospital’s leadership team. The award recognizes an employee who has demonstrated outstanding service to patients and their families and exemplifies Copley’s values of community, respect and compassion, service excellence and life-long learning.

“Angela was chosen as Copley’s first Team Hero as she exhibits the true meaning of exemplary through her work as a Certified Application Counselor (CAC),” said Copley Hospital CEO Art Mathisen. “Whether it’s a community member seeking help with healthcare enrollment or applying for financial assistance, or a co-worker in need of insurance information, Angela treats everyone the same while going above and beyond ensuring they have the information and support they need,” Mathisen continued.

In addition to her role as a Patient Financial Counselor, Angela has been serving as CAC on behalf of Vermont Health Connect for the past five years. In a letter received by Mathisen, Griggs was referred to as a “valuable community resource” and was praised for the support and assistance she provides to area care coordinators and their patients. While helping community members sign up for Vermont Health Connect or with other insurance questions, Angela listens for other areas in which they may also be struggling, such as difficulty making groceries last through the month or paying the fuel bill. Angela connects people to other resources that offer programs and services which can also provide assistance.
Griggs was very humbled to receive the recognition. “I’m very fulfilled when I can help someone. At the end of each day I know I have made a difference,” she said.

The Copley Team Hero program is a monthly award. In addition to a monetary gift, the hero is awarded a designated parking space and receives an exclusive Team Hero t-shirt.

Griggs resides in Eden with her husband Mike. She has two grown children who also live in the area. Anyone who knows Angela knows that family is important to her. These family values truly reflect in her work at Copley. Congratulations, Angela!
