After months of searching, Copley’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Melvyn Patashnick as President and CEO of Copley Health Systems. In a memo sent to employees, medical staff and board members, Sue Sargent, Board Chair, describes Mr. Patashnick as one with a rich background and a depth of experience that will be an asset to Copley and the community.
Mr. Patashnick is currently the CEO at Sierra Kings District Hospital in Reedley, California. Similar in size and operation to that of Copley, Sierra Kings Hospital is a rural hospital with 44 acute care beds and an operating budget of $23 million. The hospital sees 50,000 Rural Health clinic visits a year, 17,000 patient visits in their Emergency Room and 1,700 births. Since arriving in 2002, and due in part to his passion for rural healthcare, he has made significant changes for the betterment of the organization.
His prior experience includes St. Josephs Hospital and Medical Center, an academic medical Center, in New Jersey. While there he moved through the organization, starting as an Administrative Director until he became Vice President for Children’s Services and the Executive Director of the Children’s Hospital.
Mr. Patashnick’s in-depth management experience includes areas of operations, medical staff relations, ambulatory services, quality improvement, strategic planning and community relations.
He graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Columbia University and has three graduate degrees. He obtained a Masters in Social Work, a Masters of Arts in Health and Hospital Administration and a Masters of Science Management Systems from Kean College in New Jersey.
Originally from the east coast, Mel and his wife, Helen Marie, look forward to settling into the Copley community. His first day at Copley will be January 22nd. Please join Copley’s Board, management and medical staff in welcoming Melvyn Patashnick to the Copley community.
