For Immediate Release
Morrisville, VT…Doctors Clea James, Patrick Keith, Michael Sampson, Melissa Volansky, and nurse practitioner Jean Cass of Stowe Family Practice are pleased to announce the return of Dr. David Bisbee starting June 1. In a strange twist of fate, Bisbee having founded Stowe Family Practice in 1987 looks forward to returning to his roots as a family practitioner in Stowe. “I enjoyed teaching but I missed Stowe and the strong relationship with my patients. I look forward to coming back full time to Stowe Family Practice.” says Dr Bisbee.
In 1999 Bisbee surprised many when he decided to make a career change and teach in a family practice residency program. In 1996 Dr Bisbee was awarded the Primary Care teaching award for excellence in teaching medical students by the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He and his family moved to Waterloo, Iowa where he accepted the position as Associate Program Director at Northeast Iowa Family Residency Program. He was in charge of teaching Geriatrics and Orthopedics at the residency program. Dr.Bisbee attended the University of Southern California where he received his Masters degree in medical education as well as fulfilled a year long fellowship in medical leadership.
Although enjoying his role as teacher, he and his family missed New England. In 2001 Dr. Bisbee was hired by the NH/ Dartmouth Family Practice Residency where he has been Medical Director of the Capital Region Family Heath Center located in Concord. The practice provides care to over 13,0000 patients in the 22 town catchment area around Concord, New Hampshire. The practice includes 20 faculty physicians and 24 family practice residents in training. He has continued to practice family medicine as well as teach over the past 7 years. He estimates he has delivered well over a thousand babies in his career. He received the Family Practice Role Model award from NH/ Dartmouth Family Practice Residency program in 2003.
“I feel I have grown a lot and have had seven years of additional training and experience to bring back to Stowe Family Practice,” states Bisbee. “I am grateful the practice has given me the opportunity and look forward to building my patient base.”
Dr Bisbee joins the Stowe Family Practice team of five physicians and one nurse practitioner providing family practice medicine that includes urgent care services, routine lab tests, obstetric and pediatric services, on-site x-ray and EKG services, cardiac, wound and respiratory care as well as inpatient care at Copley Hospital.
