Assistance Programs

Financial assistance for upcoming health care expenses is available.

Copley Hospital is committed to providing health care to everyone in need, regardless of their ability to pay. We never turn anyone away from our hospital or emergency room.

Your call and all conversations with the counselor is confidential.

Copley's Patient Financial Counselors can help you: 
• obtain estimated charges for services provided by the hospital

• review and apply for a variety of state-sponsored programs

• apply for Copley's Financial Assistance Program

• work with you to set up a personal payment plan
Copley's Patient Financial Counselor can help you fill out applications and help you get the answers you need. 

Eligibility and cost is based on household size and income. There may be a program for you, no matter how much you earn.

•The Vermont Attorney General's Prescription Drug Finder
You can compare the cost of your prescription drugs in pharmacies in your area with this database. It is maintained by the Vermont Attorney General's Office. Call 802-828-1059 for assistance.

Vermont Health Connect
Vermont Health Connect is the state-sponsored health insurance marketplace/exchange set up under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. 

It is a website where you can compare health plans and select one that fits your needs and your budget.

The first open enrollment period runs from October 2013 to March 2014.
Enroll before December 15, 2013 and pay your first premium by December 21, 2013 for health insurance to start January 1, 2014.

Every plan offers the same basic services. This includes check-ups, emergency care, mental health services, and prescriptions. Side-by-side, easy-to-understand comparisons of plans' costs and benefits will be available on the website. Information on tax credits and public programs, such as Dr. Dynasaur and Medicaid are also available.

                -pay stubs from employment if applicable  
                 -adjusted gross income tax- financial info

 Who Should Enroll?
It is for individuals, families and small businesses in Vermont. This includes:       
            -Uninsured?  Apply for health insurance through VT Health Connect.               -Have Catamount BC/BS & Catamount MVP? – Coverage will end January 1, 2014.  You MUST re-apply through VT Health Connect. 
            -Have VHAP coverage?  It will transfer over to Medicaid.  There will be no more VHAP coverage.  You should have received a flier from Medicaid
            -On Medicaid? You will remain on Medicaid. You don’t need to re-apply.
            -Need to Apply for Medicaid?  Apply through VT Health Connect
             -Receive Medicare? You don't need to do anything. You will receive your benefits and Medicare information the same way you do now. Vermont Health Connect does not offer Medicare.

Copley's Discount and Free Care Policy
Copley's Discount and Free Care Policy helps patients who have no insurance or still have large balances after insurance payments due to deductibles and co-pays. The program is based on need.
You or your legal representative must complete a Financial Assistance application and provide proof of household income.

You can download an application and the policy on the right. Or call 802-888-8336 to receive an application.

Applications are also available at any Registration Desk in the hospital and in our Billing Office/Patient Financial Services located on the 2nd floor of the Health Center Building (530 Washington Highway).
